Manage downloads and uploads in Command Center

Files is where you handle data exports and bulk operations in Command Center. It has two areas: Downloads for exporting transaction data and Uploads for performing bulk operations via file upload. Whether you need a report of last month's payments or want to process hundreds of refunds at once, Files is the starting point.

What is Files

The Files menu in Command Center gives you a single place to manage every file-based operation. Instead of working with data one record at a time, Files lets you work in bulk -- exporting thousands of transaction records into a spreadsheet or processing hundreds of refunds from a single upload.

Files is a top-level menu item in the Command Center sidebar. When you expand it, you see two pages:

  • Downloads -- Request export files containing your orders, payments, or refund data. You choose what data to include by applying filters, then Command Center generates the file in the background and notifies you when it is ready.
  • Uploads -- Submit files to perform bulk operations. For example, you can upload a CSV file containing a list of refunds, and Command Center processes each one automatically.

When to Use Files

Use Files whenever you need to:

  • Export transaction data -- Go to Downloads to request an export of orders, payments, or refunds as a CSV or Excel file. This is useful for reporting, reconciliation, or sharing data with your finance team.
  • Perform bulk operations -- Go to Uploads to upload a file for bulk processing (for example, bulk refunds). This saves you from processing each refund individually.

You can also initiate a download directly from a Search page (Orders, Payments, or Refunds). The resulting file appears in Files > Downloads when it is ready.

To access Files, open the Command Center sidebar and select Files. The menu expands to show the two child pages:

Common File Operations

Both Downloads and Uploads share a few patterns that apply across all file-based operations.

Supported Formats

Files supports CSV (.csv) and Excel (.xlsx) formats for both downloads and uploads. When requesting a download, you choose the format before submitting. When uploading, your file must be in one of these two formats. Uploads have a maximum file size of 10 MB.

Status Tracking

Every file request -- whether a download or an upload -- has a status so you can see whether it is processing, ready, or has encountered an issue.

  • Download statuses: Pending, Available, Failed, Expired, and Deleted.
  • Upload statuses: Pending, Succeeded, Failed, and Partially Done.

Status indicators are color-coded so you can see the current state at a glance. Statuses update automatically as files are processed, so there is no need to refresh the page.

File Expiration

Files expire 30 days after they are created or exported. After expiration, they can no longer be downloaded. If you need data from an expired file, create a new download request or re-upload your file.

Error Handling

For uploads that fail or partially succeed, an error file is available so you can review which records failed and why. Download the error file, correct the issues in your source file, and upload the corrected version as a new upload. For downloads, if file generation fails, create a new download request with the same filters.
