Subventions — Make EMI affordable for customers

Open in Command Center

Subventions are EMI interest reductions that make EMI more attractive and affordable for customers. You create and manage subventions in Command Center under Create --> Subventions. Subventions are part of the Boostr Affordability Engine.

A no-cost EMI subvention sets the customer's interest rate to 0%, meaning you absorb the full EMI interest. A low-cost EMI subvention reduces the interest rate to a value you specify. Subventions can be discount-based or cashback-based, and you configure which EMI schemes, tenures, and issuers are eligible.

Access subventions from Create in the Command Center sidebar, then select Subventions.

When To Use Subventions

Use subventions when you want to:

  • Run no-cost EMI campaigns to increase affordability.
  • Reduce interest rates on specific EMI tenures to drive higher-value purchases.
  • Target specific card issuers or cardless EMI providers.
  • Control promotion costs with usage limits and order constraints.

For discounts and cashbacks on non-EMI payment modes, use Offers instead.

Subvention Guides

The subvention creation workflow follows three tabs: Details, EMI Configuration, and Setup. Detailed guides for each step are listed below.

Creating Subventions

The creation workflow walks you through configuring subvention details (name, type, discount or cashback value), selecting EMI schemes and tenures, and setting up eligibility rules and usage limits. This guide covers each tab of the creation form end-to-end.

EMI Configuration and Targeting

EMI configuration determines which EMI schemes your subvention applies to. You select Card EMI or Cardless EMI, choose specific issuers and providers, pick eligible tenures, and configure scheme-level matching rules that control which transactions qualify.

Subvention Types and Calculation

Subventions come in two types: no-cost EMI (where the customer pays zero interest) and low-cost EMI (where the customer pays a reduced rate). This guide explains how the interest reduction is calculated for discount-based and cashback-based subventions, including validation rules that prevent misconfiguration.

Eligibility and Validation

Eligibility rules determine when a subvention applies at checkout. These include order amount constraints, customer usage limits, total usage caps, validity date ranges, and coupon code requirements. The system evaluates all rules before applying the subvention to an EMI transaction.

Managing Subventions

After creating a subvention, you can view its details, edit its configuration, duplicate it to create similar subventions, or change its status (activate, deactivate, or archive). The subventions list view supports filtering by status and search to locate specific subventions.
